The Trojan cross country team's hope for a state representative were dashed last month in Carlinville. Dashon Bingham, the lone senior on the team, ran a great time on a rain soaked course. Bingham's final race was a sub-twenty minute race against some very stiff competition. The race was led from start to finish by the very strong Carlinville team, running at their home course, who finished with four of the top five spots. The other top teams included Columbia, Roxana, and Metro-East Lutheran. Following Bingham for Madison was sophomores Lamont Burton and Tony McDowell, Freddie Brimmage was hobbled by a tender ankle and was not able to run. The seasn started off with such promise, the season began with a ten member team who appeared to start hitting their stride mid-season. Unfortunatly, grades and injuries cut the team size down by the final regular season meet. All in all Coach Book was pleased with what he saw and hopes next years team will be ready for their chance at success.
